Starsky, Our Beloved Clinic Cat
Starsky has been very popular with our clients for many years. He is a mixed breed Himalayan and Persian cat. He came to RRPC from the Hermitage Cat Shelter in 2002 where he was considered unadoptable because of skin and eye problems that would require lifelong veterinary care. Starsky’s skin problems led our technicians to begin shaving him, creating his very distinctive and dignified lion-cut look. For many, many years Starsky roamed freely throughout the clinic during business hours. While he thoroughly enjoyed interacting with our clients and patients of all species, recently the commotion of so many people and pets became stressful for our beloved Starsky. One possible reason for this is that his vision has deteriorated very substantially.
For almost a dozen years, Starsky has stayed at the home of our Clinic Manager, Stacy, during long holiday weekends. He is very comfortable in her house and with her family and pets. In the summer of 2017, we decided to allow Starsky to retire full time and live with Stacy. She says he is ‘living the good life’, napping long hours in the sunshine and enjoying a special relationship with her Golden Retriever, Dozer.
