Starsky, Our Clinic Cat
Starsky is very popular with our clients. He is a mixed breed Himalayan and Persian cat. He came to RRPC from the Hermitage Cat Shelter in 2002 where he was considered unadoptable because of skin and eye problems that would require lifelong veterinary care. Starsky’s skin problems led our technicians to begin shaving him, creating his very distinctive and dignified lion-cut look. All day long while we are open for business, Starsky has free roam of the clinic and enjoys interacting with our clients and patients of all species.
In 2008, local artist Diana Madaras created an alter-ego for Starsky named Kitty Humbug. She painted a large portrait of a scowling Kitty Humbug adorned in a Santa Suit. This portrait then became a launching off pad for a variety of Kitty Humbug merchandise including t-shirts, coffee cups, christmas cards and ornaments, a stuffed animal and an adorable children’s book.
Due to his Kitty Humbug ‘fame’, occasionally we have people come in off the street to meet Starsky. Stop by anytime for a ‘signed’ Kitty Humbug momento – he loves when fans stop by to admire him!
